Burj Dubai
November 04, 2006

This is incredible. I read this article today about Dubai Tower (Burj Dubai), which is to become the world's tallest skyscraper. With two stories being added every week, it already has 79 stories, taking its height to more than 200 meters. But even after having gone that far, it is still unknown what the tower's final height will be. The tower, costing one billion dollars, should be completed by the end of 2008. Incredible how Dubai has become one of the top cities in the world in such a short time.

you're right about that fonzy, regardless of this tallest sky scrapper in the world, buildings go up in Dubai like tents do in the dessert, its amazing, the roads change completely in one day because of all the detours due to all of the construction sites... but even though, i wouldn’t invest in Dubai real estate long term... u know global warming is a real issue now and with the world over heating, floods are to be expected and i believe Dubai will suffer seriously and will need to spend trillions of dollars on maintenance... i really believe that what goes up too fast comes down faster.

They are quick at getting the infrastructur up, and getting things going. They have little red-tape, and they a lot of process in place to get things done..

Just dont go head to head with any of their sheikhs, because the law will always rule in their favor.. unless your a sheikh then thats another story!

izzi, u got a very good point but I doubt we will be alive by the time the ozone layer is depleted or something. By the time that happens anyway, they would have made back their money and more. Moreover, all such skyskrapers coming up now are buily in a way to withstand such forces of nature.

marzouq. from what i have seen, u cant really go head to head with any of the sheikhs here either:) esp expats! i mean its ok for a local to punch an expat but if it were the other way around, the expat is deported.
