The Press in Israel |
July 24, 2006 |
I was browsing through the foreign news sites today and saw an article that got my attention on how there is a difference in points of view on the war on Lebanon in Israel. Israel's Arabic and Hebrew press split as Israel's Arabic-language papers have been raging against the "massacres" in Lebanon whereas Hebrew-language express support for the campaign.
Even the Israeli people condemn what its own government is doing to Lebanon and, in turn, what they are doing to their own country. Everyone thought that, with their advanced weaponry and technology, Israel would wipe out Hezbollah in a few days, get their soldiers back, and expect to look like heroes in front of the world. THEY WERE WRONG! They killed over 375 Lebanese people, destroyed much of the infrastructure, paralyzed the economy, left close to a 1,000,000 people homeless and way more; on the other hand, there were many deaths and injuries in Israel, severe destruction and damage to the economy, thousands fleeing to underground bunkers, and more. The Israeli and Lebanese people have had more than enough wars during their lifetime. The Israeli people supported this attack on Hezbollah at first, thinking their army will have no trouble eliminating them and believing the bullshit that this attack is an act of self-defense, but when they saw that Hezbollah is putting up a strong fight and that the Israeli army is only performing massacres and destroying the country as a whole, things changed. Whereas in Lebanon, supporters of Hezbollah are increasing; granted, many Lebanese blame Hezbollah for starting this fight, but they are becoming more aware that this war was inevitable and that Hezbollah is the only front stopping another Israeli invasion of Lebanon. Now, the people support Nassrallah because Hezbollah is the only thing that will defend the solidarity of Lebanon, since all the outside countries have proved to be nothing but a bunch of pussies who are full of talk. STOP FEEDING US YOUR BULLSHIT!!!
