Fighting has been intense recently around Aitaroun, Bint Jbeil, and Maroun Al-Ras; these three areas have been where Hezbullah have been firing their rockets from into Israel, being the highest grounds in the area. Today, Israeli forces tried to capture Bint Jbeil; they do control part of it but not the town-center. Hezbullah has a symbolic importance for this town as it was a center of resistance to the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon in 1982-2000.
