Photography is Illegal |
August 27, 2006 |
Yesterday at Palms, my friends and I were taking some pics and everyone was cool with it. We took max 3 pics when a security dude came up to me and asked me to stop taking pics!! I mean, what the fuck is that? If I were some guy sitting alone, checking out the girls in swim suits, and taking pics, then I would understand. But we were taking pics of each other and, still, we were asked to stop. I tried to get it through his thick head that we all are willingly taking pics, even the girls, but he still insisted on me putting it away. I asked him why are pics not allowed... he just said these are the rules. And damn was he rude, felt like smacking him. So I just told him ok... and took pics behind his back anyway :) What's next? We have to wear blind folds so that we cant see anything!! Labels: Experiences |

Well Fonzy...there's a history behind the rule (aren't there always!)...It happened a while back when some mit7ajba ladies were sitting around the pool and their adolescent kid had his camera with him and was taking pictures of all the girls in their bathing suit...a Lebanese women saw him and went and spoke to the ladies...the next thing you know..there was this big cat fight between the Kuwait women and the Lebanese...the Kuwaiti woman said "Ana basafrich"...and then other expatriates heard that and got really mad...the whole club started to take sides...until the Management came and it just got plain ugly...so you see...this rule didn't just happen...it's only after the club got its bitter sweet lesson of all hell breaking lose..that they decided to stop it all together...honestly...you had to be there to realise how big the issue became...sorry dude..but I don't blame the club...

i see.. well although that is a good reason to ban stupid people with pics. I mean what idiot is gonna hold the camera up in front of everyone if he is gonna take pics of girls in swimsuits, those perverts would do it in a discreet way and trust me, this law wont stop them. But then again, I see what you mean, the club wants no blame in case a similar incident were to happen, I understand. It just sucks how some locals take advantage of their priviledges againsts expats.

marzouq. im with u man. we gather a bunch of guys. All take cameras. Head to palms and start taking pics. Then when he comes we kick his ass:) Good move with the marina guy, some assholes take advantage of their position and only arrogance works with them!
-
I have mixed feelings about this issue. they say One rotten (or bad) apple spoils the barrel!! some people abused this Privilege and ruin it for everybody else. sometimes it's hard to distinguish who's good from bad. so to avoid all this mess pick where you click :)
the one thing I'm sure about, is that no matter what, the security guy should NOT have been rude when he approached you. he should've pointed out the problem and requested that you put your camera away nicely and try to explain to you that things are that way because of so.. and so.. it's common courtesy!! I noticed many times that they do abuse their power and have an attitude problem.
-
3abeer, if the guy was polite, i would have gladly put it away and respected the rules. But his ways only pushed me to go further. As you said, pick where u click:)
-
stop taking pictures in Kuwait :P hehehehehehhe
no seriously, some perverts ruined this for others !!!! so I dont blame the security dude ...but he should have said it in a polite way :)
next time go to the Hilton :P

yeah... im done with Palms.. hilton from now on. Damn perverts, they r everywhere!! Bunch of horny retards who would hump a tree if they saw a hole in it! :P

Nahhh man, sorry, but I can't agree with you there - and I'm probably one of the most liberal Kuwaiti's you will meet.
When I am at a beach club - I HATE when people get out their camera's and start snapping pictures. Whilst I understand that your case may be innocent, there are so many disgusting little savages - who will happily snap a couple of 'secret' pictures in order to bluetooth the pics around Marina Mall to their filthy, repressed little buddies.
Feck them and their perverted ways. I've seem pics randomly sent to me which were taken at beach clubs in Kuwait. If that was my wife, my friend or anyone who I knew I would be feckin pissed.
If you were there with your wife, trying to have a relaxng time at the pool - what would you think if some random kids started snapping pics next to you?

Toxy. I totally agree with u man. Totally. But as i said before I wasnt walking around flashing my camera at people i dont know. We were a group taking pics of each other and far from anyone else. Regardless, i see where ur coming from and i respect the club rules, yet they gotta tell the people in a polite way, thats all.
-
Hehe....Yeh, for sure there is no excuse if they are rude.
I'm not sure how old you are - but if you're a young group of guys /girls - you probably got stereotyped into the brackets of those little Marina Mall perverts!
:-p
-
Toxy, im 27:) and my friends are all mature well-educated working people. and i am no pervert and i sure as hell do not hang out in marina mall unless i am there for a reason.

marzouq. i will hold him down:)
