| Jazeera Faces its Problem |
|

For all those who have faced the problem of booking with Jazeera Airways recently and faced a problem of "repeated bookings" ( read this post by Mark to know what problem Im talking about), I received this email this morning from Jazeera explaining the error: "This is due to a fiber optic cable breakdown in Saudi Arabia that resulted in slow and disruptive internet service across more than half of Kuwait. The Kuwait Ministry of Communication worked quickly to resolve the issue by changing the internet link-up to Dubai; however the internet service continues to remain below service levels across Kuwait. We have been informed that this disruption will continue today as the Dubai link up is not able to support the Kuwait service optimally. As a result, many of our customers who have tried to book in the last 24 hours did not receive confirmations on their booking and have therefore made repeated bookings. The reality of this situation is that payments and bookings did go through however customers were not informed due to the disruptive service. As always Jazeera Airways would like to assure our customers that they are not at risk and we will do the following to resolve this: - Refunding you the extra bookings in full - Continue to work with the Kuwait Ministry of Communication to resolve the situation at the earliest and work together in order to ensure the problem does not reoccur. Your extra charges will be refunded to you in full within 25 days (depending on your bank and its credit card refund processing procedures)." Labels: Announcements, Interesting, Kuwait |

| Star Wars: Clone Wars Cartoon |
| October 09, 2006 |
George Lucas is working on launching an animated TV series of "Clone Wars" by next year. The series is set during the time when the Republic is fighting a civil war against separatists led by Count Dooku. The show is planned as a continuation of "Clone Wars" that aired in 25 episodes on the Cartoon Network from 2003 to 2005; the new version will use 3-D computer graphics. I am a Star Wars fan, and definitely looking forward to see what Lucas will do! Labels: Announcements, Movies |

| Bin Laden Virus |
| October 08, 2006 |
Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden are being sent and the moment you open those emails, your computer will crash and is unrepairable. If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged", don't open the attachment. This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel. I dont know if this is for real or bull and just some excuse to forward it, but I always say its better safe than sorry. You've been warned! :)

| KTM Is No More!! |
|
Dont know if this is a rumour or not but I received this email this morning about Kuwait This Month (KTM):
"KTM magazine has been withdrawn, effective as of Saturday 7th 2006. A new business magazine will be published by MBS Publishing from the end of the month. I assumed that Mohammed would have told all the KTM writers before he went to the U.S. I guess not!!!!"
Its too bad that the first english free-spoken magazine in the country to have such an ugly ending. And now it is being replaced by a business magazine, which is pretty good but I would have personally preferred a social magazine. Well, they were on the right track but it was poorly managed. Always late to reach the stands, editing errors, and in some cases had problems with the writers. Although I did read many of the articles and gotta admit, there were a lot of skilled writers out there. Good job all you writers, sorry KTM, and hope some other magazine fills in.

| LAU Alumni Emergency Fund |
| October 07, 2006 |
I got this email from the president of LAU, Joseph G. Jabbra Ph.D., calling upon all LAU alumni requesting donations for LAU students applying for financial aid. Read it, and if you are interested, you may know more through the links below.
"LAU has launched an Alumni Emergency Fund for Financial Aid as a supplemental relief fund to cater for hardship cases of needy students. As you know, LAU students come from all over Lebanon, including areas that witnessed fierce battles. Those students have been affected morally, physically and financially. Some students and their families have been directly affected through the loss of homes, businesses, jobs and loved ones. Many are in dire need of financial support to be able to complete their education. As such, we expect an increase in demand for financial aid from all students: those already benefiting from the financial aid system and others who are now unable to settle their tuition fees due to direct losses their families incurred. Future students and new applicants are also expected to ask for help in large numbers. In light of these pressing needs for support, I kindly ask you to consider contributing to your alma mater by donating either towards its financial aid program or to its unrestricted fund. This will help LAU continue providing academic excellence and quality service to more than 6,000 students, who together with faculty and staff will play a leading role in Lebanon’s recovery. You have been active players in supporting your country by all means. LAU acknowledges your endless efforts and urges you to help fellow students complete their education. This will give them the chance to work for their country’s recovery and make a difference in their turn."
