Under Maintenance |
August 30, 2006 |
I upgraded my blog to beta and, as a result, I lost all the template changes I have done. Beta version is much easier to use so I recommend you all to upgrade before you do any changes in your templates. They dont have the "edit html" option yet so I wont be able to retreive my previous template until then. So, in the meantime, I'm stuck with this.
Update: Been working for a while on fixing what I can without having to use HTML and it sucks. This is the best I could do until they add the HTML option.Labels: Personal |

My 10 Days Off |
August 29, 2006 |
This is our house in Syria which is where I spent my 10 days relaxing, swimming, tanning, eating, and sleeping. To me, this house is Syria. Once I enter this place, I dont leave until I have to go to the airport. My attempts to go to Lebanon failed so I spent my time here. Below are pics of what my house looks like. It is the best place to be for time off:)

If you look close at the number plate in the last pic, its lebanese. Yeap we got it from Lebanon and kept it here since there were many robberies going on in our area.

SSDD |
|
I woke up today in the grumpiest of moods I have ever felt. I was sleep walking through the whole "getting ready for work" process. I have done it so many times, I can do it blind folded. Anyway, I was done and out the door and in my car. While driving to work, it hit me. ROUTINE!! I mean I knew it was, as I like to call it, SSDD (same shit different day) but I never actually thought much of it or let it get to me like today. It especially got to me when I had to look at the calendar to know what day of the week it was since everyday is like the day before! I remember seeing a movie where a guy keeps living the same day over and over again which drove him crazy, the idea of that is freaky! I felt the same way pretty much. How long will this go on? What can we do about it? Maybe I need a vacation, a real vacation!
Update: Thanks to Noush, the movie is "Groundhog Day" and the actor is Bill Murray. Labels: Personal |

Need a Laptop |
August 28, 2006 |
Ok I was just reading Marzouq's blog and he was talking about lithium batteries. Then I remembered I have been wanting to buy a laptop for quite some time now, but put it on hold cos I was out of the country. Now, I posted a while ago the specifications of a Toshiba laptop I found and asked for feedback, but NOBODY replied!!! So be useful please, and comment.................I said pleeease :P Here are the specs. By the way, click below to check out Marzouq's blog.
Specifications:
Intel Centrino 2.0 GHZ 512 MB DDR2 RAM 60 GB Hard Disk 15.4" Crystal Wid Screen True Bright DVD-Writer Multi Recorder Integrated Wireless LAN 256 MB SVGA Card 56 KBPS Fax Modem Card 10/100 LAN Card S-Video Port Firewire Port 3 USB Ports Internal Card Reader Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition For 499 KD
I also found an HP Compaq with a little less specifications except has bluetooth for 385 KD.
I saw the Macbook yesterday but it was for over 900 KD. That is a bit too much for me. And if you have any suggestions, I am all ears. Thanks. Labels: Personal |

Red Bull |
|
I am a Red Bull addict. I drink between 3 and 5 red bulls a day. Considering I work many hours per day (12-13), I need something to keep me going plus I like its taste. I tried not relying on red bull, but I almost fell asleep at work several times. Anyway, recently, friends and family noticed that I have been drinking more of it and have been stressing that I'm over doing it now; they are used to the idea that I always have a Red Bull can in my car or in my hand:) Everyone has been telling me about its health hazards and all that. So I did some research on it and found out some interesting things: 1. Because of the ingredient Taurine, Red Bull is categorized as a medicine! 2. Causes alterations in heart beat rhthyms which can cause considerable damage in the future. 3. Banned in Denmark, Norway, and France. 4. Gives some kind of euphoric feeling when mixed with alcohol... I already knew that, but I think euphoric is exagerrated.
I know its not too healthy, but I like it... I mean I do smoke and we all know not thats not healthy, but I still do it. Labels: Personal |

3 Day Weekend |
|
And so it ends............... my 3 days off are over. Here is what I did over the past 3 days:
Thursday: After work, I had a few meetings to get out of the way so that nobody calls me over the weekend. After that, I met up with friends at Second Cup in Kuwait City. I love Second Cup coffee, but one thing I dont get is why is the Kuwait City branch always empty?? The one in Salmiya is fully packed always, you have to wait to get a table. Anyway, later that night........ PARTY!! Incredible :D
Friday: Went to the airport to pick up my brother, who flew in from Dubai, at noon. Spent the whole day with him taking care of errands and finalizing his shopping duties before he leaves the same night to the states. We went to Marina, Souk Sharq, Kuwait City, Al Kout, Muhallab... everywhere!! We didnt get back home till 9:00 p.m. with barely enough time for him to pack and rush back to the airport to make his 12:30 a.m. flight to Detroit. I didnt get back home till 1:30. That was a funny feeling, usually I rush to bed cos I have to wake up early, but that night.... I was thinking "what's the rush" although I was dead ass sleepy, so I stayed up till 4:00 watching TV :D Damn, that bumming feeling felt good!
Saturday: Went to the beach at Palms. It was a very relaxed and chilled day. Usually Palms is super crowded but not this time, we actually found seats next to the pool, I guess its cos it was a Saturday, but was off for everyone.... dunno. Anyway, stuck around there till 5:00 p.m. then home, showered, changed and back out to Casper and Gambinis with a bunch of friends. After that, we head to Maze's place and played cards till 1:00 a.m. (TREX!). Damn that is one long game!!! I came in second :D Maze came in first and he will be talking about this victory for days I'm sure, since its his first:) Stayed up till 3:00 chatting.
Sunday 6:30 a.m.: 3 hours later, I'm awake, grumpy, and in the worst mood ever.
Sunday 7:45 a.m.: At work, late, and still grumpy and in the worst mood ever.
Sunday 8:30 a.m.: Cant wait till this day is over and go sleep!!!
So as you can see, been a pretty full weekend and didnt have much time to post anything except for the hangover post. Enough about me.... how was your 3 day weekend??
PS: I HATE BEING BACK TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Labels: Personal |

Back & Black |
August 21, 2006 |
I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack :) Yesterday I flew back to Kuwait and got here at 3:00 p.m. A little before we landed, I heard the captain on the mic saying "the temperature in Kuwait is 47 degrees"; I was actually afraid! I mean the temperature where I was was between 23 and 25 at its peak. Anyway, overall, I had a pretty chilled vacation. Mostly with family. First few days were really good cos I didnt have to wake up early nor worry about meeting some deadline next day. But soon the family reunions began and all those family obligations started popping up. I tried to dodge them, but where is one to go? All I wanted was some peace and quiet; I guess I got it. But the last two days were incredible; I went with my cousins to this beach resort where we spent two days, two incredible days. Swimming and tanning during the days and beach parties at night. Best of all, there was Almaza (for those who know what it is;)) and Smirnoff Ice:D!! Having those two made me feel like I was in Lebanon again, its been over a year since I tasted either one, man did I enjoy every single sip:) I got one hell of a tan during those two days, I am black now!! Its funny how someone gets a better tan on the beach in one day than a week on the pool. Time was passing slow when I was there, but when my vacation ended, I felt like time flew... I hate it when that happens! Now I'm back sitting behind my desk at work doing what I do, remembering how good it felt the past week when I was in bed at this time taking my time to wake up:( Oh well, is it good to be back?? I guess, in a weird twisted way, am glad to be back with all my friends and the life I got used to. But one thing I can say, a vacation is a must every once in a while or else you will go crazy; this was my first since I moved to Kuwait a year ago and I am looking forward for my next one. Now that I'm back, I can continue blogging :) I must admit, I did miss it, and missed reading what everyone has been up to, hope everyone has been blogging well cos I have a lot of catching up to do..
Conclusion: I'm back, I'm black, and I'm happy to be back Labels: Personal |

Hey All |
August 12, 2006 |
Hey everyone. Its been almost two days since i have been away from Kuwait. I never thought i would say this, but i miss it. Actually, I miss my people in Kuwait. All I'm doing so far is swimming and tanning. Today we had this huge lunch, and when i say huge i mean HUGE, there were like 50 people, all family gathered up from different parts of the world for this family reunion. I loved it. Felt so good seeing everyone again:) Now i am at an internet cafe checking my mail and thought I post something since am here. Its funny the tanning here, today I sat in the sun for a few hours and left with a tan, while in kuwait i sat for hours every week and barely any tan. I guess its probably cos you get fried before getting tanned:P Anyway, gotta run. You all take care. I miss you all. All the best and will try to pass by every once in a while. Labels: Personal |

Brodareegiz |
|
In case ur wandering what is brodareegiz..... its what I call my brother, mexican for brother:P yeah yeah, i know it doesnt exist, I made it up. Anyway, my bro arrived last night to Kuwait after a long trip from the U.S. He had not slept in over 24 hours and was a zombie when he finally came in. As soon as we got home, he had a bite to eat and passed out. And tomorrow we continue to Syria. He told me to get running shoes with me; he actually wants to take me jogging everyday!! Yeah right! I hate jogging! Swimming is my thing. Plus, after 11 months in Kuwait using the car at all times and sitting behind a desk barely doing any sports except for the daily workout...... ME JOG!?!?!?! hehe... thats a joke:) But I know I will end up joining him..... Labels: Personal |

Going Away |
August 09, 2006 |
I will be travelling this Friday to Syria for a family reunion, after all that has happened in Lebanon; I might try to pass by Lebanon, but I doubt it will work. I will be gone for 10 days. I doubt I will be posting anything during my trip cos I dont have internet there, let alone a PC; i know!!! I'm gonna go crazy, true that. But at least I will have ten days of full relaxation. We have a nice chilled villa there with a pool, basket ball court, and an amazing garden. So will be relaxing, swimming, tanning, doing barbeque, eating fried corn, and chilling with family and friends; best of all, NO WORK.... no waking up at 6:00 to be at work by 7:30:) I just wished it was Lebanon I would do all that in...... Need Advice |
August 07, 2006 |
I NEED to buy a new laptop. I have had the same HP for the past 5 years, and I think its time I let go of it, although I love it, but it simply isnt doing it for me anymore..... Anyway, I was looking around and I spotted 1 Toshiba that got my attention. It is the Satellite M70-192.
Specifications:
Intel Centrino 2.0 GHZ 512 MB DDR2 RAM 60 GB Hard Disk 15.4" Crystal Wid Screen True Bright DVD-Writer Multi Recorder Integrated Wireless LAN 256 MB SVGA Card 56 KBPS Fax Modem Card 10/100 LAN Card S-Video Port Firewire Port 3 USB Ports Internal Card Reader Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition For 499 KD I also found an HP Compaq (NX 6110-059) with a little less specifications except has bluetooth for 385 KD.
I would appreciate any kind of feedback, suggestions, or advice anyone can give me.

My Car is Dead |
|
I woke up earlier than usual today so I can make it to work on time. I'm walking down to my car, not in a rush, all proud of myself cos I will be at work early today. I get into the car, turn on the ignition, and................. nothing!!! And no, its not the battery; I think its the dynamo, cos there is power in the car, its just not reaching the engine. Anyway, luckily, I have another car, so it went well. I'm just not looking forward to the afternoon when I have to go work on my car. Labels: Personal |

Late to Work |
August 06, 2006 |
Here we are starting a new week of waking up early, sleep walking, dragging ourselves to work and do the same exact thing the many days and weeks before. Well at least its better for most people than it is for me since I have to wake up at 6:00 to be at work by 7:30. You know what sucks?? That if I arrive at 7:31 or 12:31, I'm considered late!! Shouldn't they give us a 10 min safety time?? I know I need it cos I have used up all the excuses for being late. I used flat tire, accident, alarm clock battery died, somebody parked behind me, no parking, spilled coffee on myself so had to change, and others. Anyone has some brilliant excuses to share?:) I know I could use some fresh ideas...Labels: Personal |

Morning "Headache" |
|
What a long amazing day... Woke up with a splitting headache (can be called something else:P), took some Panadol, had my coffee, and rushed out with my usual daily Red Bull to a business meeting. The meeting was so boring, I actually dozed off for a few seconds while this guy was giving a speech about team work... bla bla bla was all I was hearing:) Anyway, as soon as I was done, I rushed back home to get my gear together and have my usual day at the beach...BUT, guess what?? Cos i was sleep walking in the morning, I forgot my keys inside and locked myself out. So had to wait for 45 minutes in the heat for my dad to come back and open the door. Can you imagine sitting in the heat at 11:00 a.m. with a splitting headache and in a rush to get to the beach....?? IT SUCKS! Labels: Personal |

Not Looking Good |
August 02, 2006 |
Few hours ago, the Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, asked his army to be placed on high alert status. Now what? Who knows what this could mean!! Could be some sort of defense strategy or could it mean the one thing that nobody wants?? If Syria gets involved, so will Iran. And definitely the U.S. and Britain have to back up Israel. And others will join. This could end up in World War III if its not stopped ASAP. And, ofcourse, Lebanon will be used as the battle area. Labels: Lebanon, Personal |

Stupid Jokes |
|
Who ever said that as you get older you grow out of stupid jokes. I just got back home and spent the whole drive back trying to fix things between two good friends of mine who were in a serious fight. After so many calls and messages, I finally got them talking to each other. After their call, one calls me and tells me the fight got bigger and they were insulting each other BIG time. So I'm sitting there trying to fix things between them, talking to one by one in turn. All this and I'm dead ass sleepy and tired and just wanna go to bed cos gotta wake up at 6:00. Finally, one of the jackasses feels sorry for me cos I sounded very tired and told me it was all a prank they were pulling on me. IT WAS A JOKE!!!!!! That shit pissed me off, but I said I was cool with it cos apparently I AM THE MATURE ONE!!! I know you two will be reading this in the morning which is why I am writing it before I sleep plus you ruined my sleep, I cant sleep no more!!! I am seriously gonna kick both you asses when I see you cos I am a zombie tomorrow at work!! You think that was a stupid joke or not? Update: One of the two guys read my blog this morning and felt wrongfully accused so he explained what happened... Turns out one of them was playing a joke on both of us then tried to convince the other to join in against me, which he did for a few minutes but felt sorry for me cos I was exhausted so he spilled it out. So the other guy will get a nice ass kicking on his own when I see him:) Labels: Friends, Personal |
