| Virgin is Sorry |

Last night Steve and I went to Virgin, Marina Mall. I was surprised by how much the place changed. For starters, the panasonic section expanded and now has its own entrance and its own cashier. Now that got me wondering, why the hell is virgin renting out that space? I mean, its not like they got a huge area to be covered and they dont know what to do with it. This virgin is probably the smallest in the world and instead of making use of it, they decide that it will pour in more profit than if they use it efficiently. Moving on to the House/Trance CD section which I could get to blindly and what do I see? "Sorry for the Inconvenience"!!! Apparently, they are redecorating and shifted all the CDs to another area. I go to where they shifted the CDs and I find maximum 20 CDs!! I kept looking around thinking I missed something, but I didnt. Because of renovation issues and customs problems, they have not imported any new CDs during the past few weeks! My CD collection is bigger than the one they got displayed!! All I can say is that Virgin continues to dissapoint me, be it prices, meeting the worldwide known Virgin standards, and not being up-to-date on their products. And I hate where they put the new cashier stand, more wasted space. They gotta shape up, they have a lot to be sorry about! Related post by Toxy on lack of DVDs. I was never a big fan of sushi but I do enjoy having it except anything that involves salmon. I can handle crab and shrimp but salmon is just way too fishy for me:) Back in Lebanon, I never bothered to try it but since I came to Kuwait, I was tempted cos everyone seemed to like it so I decided to give it a shot. Tried several sushi places in Kuwait so far but Edo is the first one I post a review about. Its a very cozy place and the food is pretty good, although I have tried better. They do have a diverse menu though. I tried the beef terriyaki, and california maki. Also I tried something which is about green onions wrapped around with beef, and I honestly dont remember the name. There were also fried shrimps and bits from here and there. Although they serve 8 pieces per order, their pieces are pretty small.
Pros:
(1) Welcoming Hospitality
(2) Great Food
(3) Reasonable Pricing
(4) Relaxed ambiance
(5) Appetizing presentation of food
(6) No stink of fish - BIG PLUS!!!
Cons:
(1) Small pieces
(2) Tasteless green tea :P

| Al Reef Al Libnany Restaurant |

I remember when I was a kid, I would go with cousins and have falafel, shawerma, fatteh, and other lebanese food at small snack places in the area. They would have a small cooking area with a counter and a cashier and a bunch of plastic tables and chairs outside. Kind of places where you order, eat, relax, and leave in 30 minutes or so. I kept going to such places till my last day in Lebanon. Yesterday afternoon, while trying to evade traffic, I spotted this small Lebanese restaurant in Hawalli on Sharahbeel Road called "Al Reef Al Libnany" so I thought I would give it a try. I tried the fettah there and it was incredible. They give you a big bowl with a big plate of vegetables and pickles. Didnt have my camera on me so couldnt take a picture of the food, but took a snap of the place today on my way to work.

| Zak at Hang Out |

Back in Lebanon, I was a big fan of live bands, whether domestic or foreign. Whenever I hear some band is playing somewhere, I was sure to go. Except when it was death metal bands :P That was simply just noise. Always been a fan of how musical instruments work and love watching the musicians play. So last night we head to Hang Out to listen to Zak sing while playing his guitar. He is a talented soloist player and has a pretty good voice; the sound system installed is high quality and the voice is distributed all over the place in a non-annoying way. Among the songs he played my most favorite I should say was Zombie followed by Hotel California, with which he ended the night. He played from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Usually there would be a bigger audience but for some reason there were maximum 20 people, of which 10 were on our table. Regardless, I would recommend you to listen to him play. Not only is he talented with the guitar, at the end of the night he passes by every table, sits with the peope, and gets to know them. He usually plays every Sunday there but I think its every other Sunday now. Enjoy!! Labels: outings, Talents |

 Last night it was pretty humid and fely an urge for ice cream. So I head to my favorite ice cream pla  ce.... Hoagen Dazs! Went to Souk Sharq and locally there was no traffic. My dad wanted to see something at the fish market so that kinda ruined my appetite cos as soon as he opened the car door, the smell rushed in and was stuck in my nose for hours......... yeah, if you haven't noticed.. I hate fish!! Anyway, I ordered what they call the "Tiramisu Del Ice" or something like that. Its basically three scoops of coffee, tiramisu, and caramel topped with chocolate sauce and nuts of some sort, forgot what they are called. | Mughal Mahal |

 Friday for lunch, we head to Mughal Mahal for lunch. This is an indian food restaurant located in the Sharq area. It was my first time trying Indian food. I have always avoided trying this food mainly cos I heard that it is very spicy food and I am VERY sensitive to spicy stuff. But I decided to venture and try it out cos been hearing a lot about it recently. I loved the food and was impressed by the way the food was prepared. I tried the lamp chops, on the left, and a bite of fish, on the right. I did, however, leave lit like a light bulb cos of the spices :P
 
Pros:
(1) Amazing Food
(2) Very hygeinic
(3) Appetizing presentation of dishes
(4) Light food
(5) Welcoming hospitality
(6) Fast Service
Cons:
(1) Too spicy
(2) Cooking smell reaks
(3) Have to wait for a table so I advise you to reserve
Woud I Go There Again?
Ocassionaly, when I feel like blowing out fire :)

 You can see this in the Radisson SAS Hotel in Kuwait in the main lobby. I read about it last Thursday when I visited the hotel and was very interesting to know more about it and how it works. Will update this post tomorrow about what it is called, how it was made, and how it works. | My Day at Bnaider |

Yesterday, the family and I were invited to Bnaider to a friend's chalet to spend the day and so we did. I was driving for over 45 minutes and the road felt like it had no end, damn it was far. I love driving, but when it is a straight road with nothing but sand on your left and right, you gotta feel sleepy at some point. But it felt good being able to step on the gas pedal going 170 all the way:) I must say I was impressed by the chalet area. Each chalet is more luxorious than the one next to it, and each had its own private area on the beach that people can just hang out and do whatever they want without having to worry about who is watching. People go there to escape society and all its headaches; sounds perfect to me! We spent the day there, had lunch there, spent the evening just chit chatting and catching up on old times. Felt amazing being able to have a meal in the outdoors without frying our brains from the sun. The beach looked incredible too, the water was very calm and looked very clean. First time in Kuwait I see such clean waters. The only problem was the humidity. Also, would be great if I can do a party there :P

| Ghabka at Maze's |

 We ended the weekend with a ghabka dinner Maze hosted at his place Friday night. He had spent the entire day preparing for the night and I say he did a great job. He actually cooked most of the food!! I was impressed by how good the food was. There was also some lebanese foods he has brought back with him from his recent trip. A bunch of friends were there, the food was great, the gathering was great. Also, Ayo baked her famous cake recipe and Madame got a bunch of sweets from Cinnzaeo. It was a great evening. Good job Maze with the food, we all know how the ladies love a man who cooks ;)

| Cafe Supreme |

Last Thursday night we went to Cafe Supreme for a late dinner and coffee. Been going there a lot recently and I have grown attached to the place. We got there at around 10:15 after leaving the house at 9:00; took me that long cos of all the traffic. It was the first time I go to that area on a Thursday night, now I know why I have always avoided going there on weekends. Anyway, got there all stressed out especially that it took us a while to find a parking spot; actually we didnt, ended up giving the car to vallet, which I hate! We got there, and found a table and was able to relax then. I had the Quesadilla sandwich and some of Chicken Roll, both were greatIt was a chilled and relaxed night, I enjoyed it.
 
Pros:
(1) Good food & drinks
(2) Welcoming hospitality
(3) Fast service
(4) Pleasant staff
(5) Great location
(6) Comfortable seating
(7) Great view
(8) Reasonable pricing
(9) Funky decoration
Cons:
(1) Traffic passing by can be annoying
(2) Kids in cars passing by throwing remarks

| Casper & Gambini's |

 Went for a late dinner last night to Casper & Gambini's in Marina mall. We didn't know where to go; we were simply driving away from the traffic and surprisingly we got to Marina Mall, which was extremely packed as well but the crescent was empty for some reason. Anyway, we got to Casper and it was pretty empty; other than us, there were two other tables. We had some of their funky breads, dinner, and coffee. I had the Philli Steak, and it was incredible; I highly recommend it. It was a chilled night, but did end up going home late cos of the traffic.
Pros:
(1) Amazing food
(2) Chilled ambiance
(3) Welcoming hospitality
(4) Good and fast service
Cons:
(1) Bad taste in paintings
(2) Bad turkish coffee
(3) Expensive but worth it
Would I Go There Again?

It was a pleasant night yesterday at the Astra Lounge. We were a group of more than ten people just chilling and chit chatting. I've been to this place several times before and have enjoyed it every single time. It is isolated in a place where nobody can see it; the people who go there have to want to go there in particular and not just walk in cos they bumped into it. The was I see it, people who go there want to be secluded from the rest of the country and I think it does the job pretty well. Soon we will be sitting in the outside area cos they got a very nice setting going on. If you are interested in going, it is behing Villa Fayrouz restaurant in the Sha'ab area.
Pros:
1. Good food and beverages
2. Chilled Ambiance - I Like!!:)
3. Funky decorations
4. Welcoming hospitality
5. Nice chill-out music
Cons:
1. Minimum 3KD charge
2. A little expensive
Would I go there again?

 Got hungry at Koot Mall so went for a bite to eat. I decided to go for Dalloyau, originally a French restaurant. I have tried it before at Fanar Complex and found their drinks incredible. This time I tried their food and went for a sandwich called Francisco, and I found it just as amazing.
Pros:
1. Great Food and Beverages
2. Fast Service
3. Welcoming Hospitality
4. Relaxing Ambiance
Cons:
1. Hard-to-pronounce name :P
Would I go there again?

I was at Al Koot Mall in Fahaheel a few days ago and came across this place. Its been there for a while and I was checking out what they do. What they do is engrave a picture into a glass crystal using laser; it takes 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the crytal. Its a funky idea and a lot of people were actually standing in line to get one done.

| La Marina Cafe |

 Its been a while since I have been to Souk Sharq. So yesterday, I decided to go and see what's been happening there. Man, was it packed. Not only did it take me 45 minutes to find parking, I we also couldn't find any empty tables in any cafe. We ended up finding a vacancy at La Marina Cafe. Although I had just eaten, for some reason, I suddenly got hungry so I ordered their California Cheese Burger. It was actually two small burger, bigger than the usual slider and smaller than the usual burger. It was pretty good. But it wasn't one of those meals that I would look forward to, so I doubt I will be going there again.  Labels: Food, outings, Reviews |

| LAU Ghabka: Review |

        Thursday night was an incredible night. Although not all people made it from my list, we still had an amazing time. The LAU event was very well organized. It was in one of the two ballrooms in the basement of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. When we walked in, there were the senior members of the organization welcoming all people very warmly. And when we walked in, each round table had eight chairs on it tagged with the names of the reserver; in our case, it was mine :P At first, it was chilled out as people were walking in and people were simpy mingling. But once the room started filling up, the party was on. They started off with an oriental group playing some old lebanese tunes followed by one of the visitors singing live, and she was pretty good:) Throughout the night, they were passing out gifts from Yves Saint Laurent, Sultan Center, NBK, and others. Also, each table had a bunch of chocolates offered by Nestle. We didnt head to the buffet till 12:00 and the food was pretty good, not much diversity though, but that was no problem. We ended up staying there till 3:00 a.m. sipping coffee and finishing off our hubbly bubblies:) Senior members were passing around asking who is an LAU alumni and not a member in their association, of which I was one since this was the first event of theirs I attend. | LIK Iftar: Review |

  Yesterday I went to the LIK iftar with some friends, which was at Holiday Inn Downtown. Of those you might know are Rampurple, Jazz-Central, and Noush from the bloggers. It was very well organized. Bunch of LIK members welcoming the people, tables were well organized, food was diverse and pretty good, entertainment was well prepared, an oriental band was playing old arabic tunes, and the ambience was great; was amazing cos it was very lebanese, felt good to have all the people around us speaking lebanese. Also, Rampurple was there representing Renault, a client of hers, by giving out tickets for a raffle over a Clio. Thumbs up to LIK. Labels: Events, outings, Reviews |

| Hang Out |

 Another chilled out night at Hang Out with friends. This time I tried the Grilled Cheesy sandwich and it was pretty good but definitely not worth the 2.1 KD I paid for it. It is simply melted cheese in toast bread. So far that plus the Club Bites are the only two edible things, everything else I tried sucked. Although I keep complaining about their food, I must admit its chilled to sit there, very quiet and relaxed and you get to have a normal conversation with those with you.
Pros:
1. Relaxing Ambiance
2. Quiet Environment
3. Good Drinks
4. Nice & Funky Decoration
5. Good Music (Tentative)
Cons:
1. Bad Food
2. Expensive

| Columbus Cafe |

 Columbus Cafe is definitely my favorite coffee shop in Kuwait. And yesterday I found their second branch that had opened a few months ago in Bahr Center. I had a caramel machiatto there and it was just as good as the main branch. The staff was very friendly too and welcoming. They were offering a new Apricot (Kamereddin) drink which wasnt that good honestly. The only problem with the place is that not many people go there, since the mall is still new. About Me: In brief, I graduated from LAU in Lebanon with a double major in Busines Computer and Banking & Finance. Worked in many pubs and night clubs as a DJ, PR, and Security Comptroller. Now I'm in Kuwait.... been here since September 2005. Im working two jobs, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, and a third project is on the way, which will be a great hit if it works out and i sleep max 5 hours a day. Its a chilled life, mostly work, and occasional outings. In Kuwait, I use my brain cells, then go to Lebanon and burn them:D But one fact remains unchanged and will always be.... I MISS LEBANON!!!!!
